Happy Bike to Work Day!
Each day seems to be getting hotter! I think it was 106 today, but it’s not as bad as you think, it’s a dry heat ? Why do people always say that? It’s still freakin 106!
The landscape is amazing out here, the best part of today was rolling through the Imperial Sand Dunes. Huge yellow dunes on either side of the road, I felt like I was on another planet. I’ve also noticed all sorts of Border Patrol trucks, this is only 19 miles from the border. I actually had to go through a border patrol checkpoint. As I cruised through the guys just smiled and waved me on, I guess they didn’t expect me to be smuggling anyone in my little trailer.
I wish there were more services out here, I luckily packed two gallons of water in my trailer but it would be nice to have a backup. I actually went through one small white trash dune buggy town (Glamis) and the only store there was selling water for $4.50 a gallon!
I made it 70 miles today and now I’m camped out right beside the Colorado river in a little trailer park ‘Vacation Home’ area. They are way cool, free showers and power!
My computer is so hot I could cook an egg on it. This silver metal box is not liking the heat!
Today I’m off to Arizona…where I hear it’s a whole lot cooler ?
